- The scam firm is falsely claiming that Martin Lewis has encouraged people to engage with their offer of grants for renewable energy. Lewis stated that this claim is “UTTER B**S” and urged people to politely disengage from the calls.
- This is part of a larger issue where scammers use Martin Lewis’s face or name, for example, on advertisements for cryptocurrency, investments, or banks. The money guru never endorses any products or services, and neither does Money Saving Expert.
- If you have already responded to a scam, you should end all further communication immediately and call your bank directly to cancel any outstanding or recurring payments. You can use the 159 hotline to quickly connect with the fraud department of major UK banks.
- Scams should be reported to the relevant authorities across the UK. In England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, you should contact Action Fraud, and in Scotland, you should report it via Advice Direct Scotland or to Police Scotland on 101.
