A good pair of jeans can last shoppers through many fashion seasons. One pair from M&S, which trended on the retailer’s site, strike the perfect balance of having classic denim styling but with a contemporary design.

The M&S 16Arlington Pure Cotton High Waisted Wide Leg Jeans are £65, and cut high at the waist, falling into a wide leg to ankle length, they also use 100% cotton for structure and keep their shape without clinging.

They come in short and regular, and are available in sizes six through to 18. The wash is clean and understated, meaning they sit comfortably between casual and smart-casual without a lot of effort. They’re part of an exclusive range, M&S says, in collaboration with cult London label 16Arlington.

Shoppers can tuck in a white T-shirt or fine knit to accentuate the high waist, and add loafers or low-heeled boots to elongate the leg and perfectly offset the dark indigo colour. They can be washed at 40°C, and have a button and zip fastening on the waist.

Jean fans could also look to other brands for variety, and currently Hush has some deals on jeans, including this pair of Harri Popper Detail Wide Leg Jeans for £55, reduced from £110. Made from pure cotton twill they are soft and modelled on Hush’s Harrison joggers, the brand says. They have metallic poppers down to the ankle and an elasticated waist.

From New Look, shoppers can peruse the Blue Adalae High Waisted Wide Leg Jeans which cost £34.99. These come in different colour options including navy and light blue. They have a high-waisted silhouette and full wide legs, and are non-stretch denim.

While the M&S jeans don’t yet have any reviews online as they are a newer addition, shoppers have left a lot of feedback about the retailer on Trustpilot. One shopper who bought another brand of jeans said: “I bought a pair of Lily Jeans a few weeks ago. They were such an amazing fit I went back and bought three more pairs in different colours. So comfortable to wear too. Great jeans are always hard to find so I’m so pleased I will be sticking to these.”

Another customer who lives elsewhere said: “Living in gorgeous sunny SW France life is good, except when it comes to buying clothes to fit my English figure. M&S to the rescue with brilliant web shopping experiences. Accurate measurements and the select your perfect jeans tool is amazing. Reasonable delivery charges and very prompt service. Keep up the good work and thanks.”

One shopper said of the retailer: “Absolutely fantastic. Really good service in store.”

Some customers left succinct feedback, with one writing in a four-star review: “Everything went fine”, while another said: “I’ve been very impressed by the reduction of plastic in M&S packaging. I’m knocking off a star because the online returns system could be way smoother.”
