Greater Manchester continues today to investigate the tragedy in the Nevin Road area of New Moston where the teenage boy died following a “distressing incident”
A teenage boy repeatedly said “I don’t want to die” to an apparent stranger after claiming to have been stabbed on a street.
The youngster, who it is thought was 13, succumbed to the injuries suffered in the Nevin Road area of New Moston, Manchester, on Sunday. It is believed he was attacked near a pub and then ran to a stranger’s house to plead for help on Sunday evening.
The Nevin Road resident said: “He just came through the door and said ‘I’ve been stabbed’. We sat him down on a chair and phoned an ambulance. He just kept saying ‘I don’t want to die.'”
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) launched a murder investigation and have made three arrests in connection with it. Superintendent Marcus Noden said: “This is a distressing and heart-breaking incident where a boy has lost his life.”
Officers remain in the area, a suburb of north Manchester near a park, and are appealing for witnesses or any information from members of the public. Several scenes remain in place, including a cordon near the pub – The Fairway Inn, which is on Nuthurst Road.
A witness told Manchester Evening News told how desperate members of the public performed CPR on the boy, but they were unable to save him. His family are being supported by our officers, GMP continued in its statement last night.
Forensics in white suits also arrived at the scene, with CSI vans parked up on Nevin Road and outside the pub. An air ambulance was scrambled following the incident, and landed on nearby Nuthurst Park.
A major murder probe has now been launched, with detectives urging witnesses in the area at around 5pm to come forward as they piece together what happened.
