Casemiro will receive £247,000 from his former club Sao Paulo after a long-standing labour dispute over employment-related payments from his academy days was resolved this week.
Manchester United star Casemiro is set to pocket £247,000 courtesy of his former club Sao Paulo, after a formal agreement was reached to settle a labour dispute – according to reports from Brazil. The midfielder transferred to Real Madrid from his boyhood club in 2013, but has remained linked with Sao Paulo due to claims of unpaid money.
As per Brazilian outlet UOL, via Sport Witness, the case, which had been active since 2014, is now resolved with £247,000 agreed as the payment to the 33-year-old. This will provide him with a nice financial boost at the end of the year, on top of his substantial weekly wage.
The claim, associated with employment-related payments from his academy days, was understood to be around £290,000, although the final figure is slightly less than that. The case included image-rights charges, match-related earnings, bonuses and holiday entitlements, which are standard contractual extras.

Casemiro will receive the payment on a monthly basis, but he may actually rake in up to £363,000 if Sao Paulo fail to keep up with the payment schedule. They have agreed to these terms, with the regional labour court approving the settlement this week.
Next month, Casemiro will be free to negotiate with clubs outside England as he enters the final six months of his United contract. A transfer away last summer seemed to be inevitable, but the seasoned midfielder stayed put and has repaid Ruben Amorim for his faith.
With United typically playing just once weekly, Casemiro has been delivering exceptional performances, although his stamina may face a stern examination in the coming period.
He featured for the full 90 minutes during the 2-1 triumph against Crystal Palace last weekend, with his game-time now likely to be carefully monitored as Amorim’s squad take on West Ham United, Wolves and then Bournemouth across the next 12 days.
Casemiro risks missing one of those fixtures through suspension, however, as he sits on four yellow cards in the Premier League.
After the Bournemouth meeting, Amad, Bryan Mbeumo and Noussair Mazraoui will all become unavailable as they depart for AFCON. Despite various injury concerns across the squad, United have suffered defeat in just one of their previous seven Premier League matches, leaving them eighth in the standings.
A win against the Hammers would propel them into fourth place, with every other side having already completed their game-week 14 fixtures.
When questioned – during his press conference – about getting into Champions League qualification places and maintaining that position, Amorim responded: “I understand the question and if the table is there, if you have the opportunity. one game per week, you need to go for it.
“But then you look at the table and everyone is like two points behind. Everything can change in one week.
“Let’s focus. I think the best way of doing things, especially with our team, is to focus just on the next game. If we win the next game we will maintain the position at least. That is the main focus.
“To go in the position of Champions League in the next weeks, yes, it is realistic. The future, I don’t know. I want to continue near that position next week. Then the rest we will see.”
