All 47 Skin products have a unique ingredient – Silver Chitoderm – which founder Nic received in a package from his nan
Skin issues can often be a sensitive topic for many people, with confidence struggles usually at the forefront. This was the case for skincare brand 47 Skin founder Nic, who previously told The Mirror he wouldn’t leave the house due to his spots and blemishes.
“I remember times where I’d get ready for a night out, then look in the mirror and go, ‘I can’t go out tonight because I’ve got big spots and blemishes’,” he says. “And then I literally wouldn’t go out. With nights out where they’d photograph the clubs and then upload it on Facebook the next day, I really didn’t like the way my skin looked.”
Nic found nothing worked for him and he was left feeling ‘hopeless’ and in ‘agony’, he says. That is, until a parcel arrived from his grandmother – who worked as a nurse for 50 years.
“I opened it and there’s a little pot of cream and it had a handwritten note and it said, ‘To Nic, this is a local formulation, apparently it’s fantastic for spots and blemishes’. I used it day and night and to my surprise, my skin cleared within four days,” he says.
“I was shocked that my skin had cleared within four days, but part of me still thought, well, they’ll come back right? I continued to use it. The spots and blemishes never came back. My skin was soft and hydrated and kind of firm. It just completely transformed the condition of my skin.”

Now, 47 Skin, which has a secret unique ingredient in its products, has a great deal on – it is offering customers 10% off all bundles until 25th February. First up is the 2 Step Cleanse & Protect Bundle for £47.50, down from £53, which comes with an Everyday Cleanser to remove impurities and unclog pores, as well as a Serum.
The serum itself is a bestseller and is powered by Silver Chitoderm – the brand’s unique ingredient. 47 Skin products are said to be the only skincare products in the world to contain this ingredient and here is how it works.
Silver has been trusted for centuries as being antibacterial and anti inflammatory, as the brand says it kills 99.9% of breakout-causing bacteria while calming inflammation and supporting skin recovery. The Chitoderm is ‘muco-adhesive by nature’, which means it forms a breathable layer on the skin’s surface to help lock ingredients in place.
In the bundles, there is also the 3 Step Moisture Bundle for £83, down from £92, and it includes a daily moisturiser, along with the cleanser and serum. Lastly, there’s also the Body Moisturiser and Body Wash Bundle for £56, down from £62.
This one comes with a 150ml Treatment Body Wash to help exfoliate, clear pores and smooth skin, and it is enriched with Papaya Fruit Extract, Liquorice Root and Bearberry Leaf. Secondly, there is a 150ml Body Moisturiser that has vitamin E and ceramides to help retain moisturise to give results of softer skin.
A cheaper alternative but still highly rated is the Ordinary’s Glass Skin Bundle for £35.60 from LookFantastic. This comes with a 50ml cleanser, 100ml toner, 30ml hyaluronic acid serum, and 30ml natural moisturising cream.
For anyone looking to splurge a little bit more, Clarins currently has its Double Serum & Extra Firming Set up for grabs at £96 online, and it’s described as ‘skincare essentials that target the signs of ageing, firm the skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles’. Included in this set is a double serum (50ml), extra-firming day cream (15ml), extra firming night cream (15ml) and a total eye lift (3ml).
47 Skin customers have rated the products highly, however, as one person, Lydia, wrote: “I have struggled with my skin since I was a teenager, so throughout my years of dating and navigating first relationships. I now feel confident in my own skin for the first time. This new-found confidence is really positive for my existing relationship.”
Another person called Sofie said: “Clearing my skin has made a profound difference to my relationships. It has allowed me to concentrate on what is in front of me, rather than constantly worrying about what the person across from me thinks of my skin.”
As skincare is person-dependent, there were some people who deducted a star. For example, this person said: “It was pretty good, but did not like the smell. “
Overall however, most customers like Sophie said they would “1,000% recommend” the products.
