A man in his 20s was stabbed in south-east London this afternoon, with a murder investigation launched by the Met Police – no arrests have been made thus far
A murder probe has been launched after a young man was stabbed to death in south-east London.
Police were called to Hither Green Lane by the London Ambulance Service at around 3.20pm today, the Met said. Paramedics treated the man, who was in his 20s, at the scene before rushing him to hospital, where he died. The victim’s family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.
Superintendent Nick Jowett, of the Met’s Royal Borough of Greenwich policing team, said: “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at this distressing time. Although we are in the very early stages of the investigation, I can assure you that detectives are working at pace to identify those responsible for this senseless attack.
“In the meantime, local residents can expect to see an increased police presence across the area. Please speak to them if you have any concerns.”
No arrests have yet been made. Police are appealing for anyone with information to share it via 101, quoting 4648/28OCT.
Hither Green Lane and Benin Street remain closed while investigations continue.
