A man has been charged after police found human remains in a flat.
Police officers swarmed a flat in St Helens, Merseyside at 11.30pm on Thursday, January 8 after receiving a report of a concern for safety and following enquiries. The found human remains inside a flat in Gerards Court.
The person is yet to be formally identified.
Merseyside Police arrested George Gordon, 65, at the scene and he has now been charged with preventing lawful and decent burial of a dead body and obstructing a coroner in the execution of his/her duty.
Gordon, who has been remanded, will appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Monday, January 12.
Police said a 58-year-old man from St Helens has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. The man remains in police custody and will be questioned.
Officers combed the area on Friday and Saturday, the Liverpool Echo reported, as police vehicles and and a mobile police station were stationed in the car park on Gerards Court. A white tent was set-up at the back of the building.
Focus was on enquiries on the block of flats, where CSI officers wearing white suits moved between their vans and the flat, carrying objects from the flat into the vehicles.
