Oliuwadamilola Ogunyankinnu, 27, was charged with the murder of filmmaking student Finbar Sullivan and told the court ‘I didn’t kill anybody, they’ve got the wrong person’
A man accused of stabbing a 21-year-old to death on Primrose Hill has been pictured for the first time after telling a court: “I didn’t kill anybody”.
Oliuwadamilola Ogunyankinnu, 27, was charged with the murder of filmmaking student Finbar Sullivan who died after the alleged attack at the north London viewpoint on Tuesday evening. During a two-minute hearing at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on Monday, he said: “I didn’t kill anybody, I didn’t stab anybody, they’ve got the wrong person,” before he was taken to the cells.
District Judge Ashwinder Gill told Ogunyankinnu his case was too serious to be heard at the magistrates’ court. “Your case will therefore be sent to the Central Criminal Court,” she told the defendant.
Police were called to Primrose Hill at around 6.30pm on Tuesday following reports of a fight.
Finbar’s dad Christopher said his son suffered “multiple stab wounds but the one that killed him was in the leg which severed an artery and he bled out”.
He said the student had gone to the north London beauty spot that day to test out a new camera he had bought for his 21st birthday. Two hours later, Christopher received a call from Finbar’s friend “saying he had been hurt” and that they had been giving the student CPR for the past 20 minutes.
“I got an Uber up to Primrose Hill,” he told the Times. “There was a police cordon and I could not get through. When I explained who I was, an officer said they were going to get someone from CID to speak to me. He said, ‘I am sorry, your son is dead’.”
Christopher, 65, described his son as “the most beautiful, lovely, outgoing, loving boy.”
He told the Daily Mail: “He was just a really lovely person. This is the worst tragedy I could ever imagine. He’s my only son […] I had him when I was 45. He can never be replaced.” He added: “I’m so broken-hearted, I can’t believe it.”
Christopher said his son had ambitions to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, cameraman Michael Seresin, who worked on Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban and Rambo III.
A Metropolitan Police investigation is ongoing, with officers continuing to ask anyone relevant information to upload it to the police major incident portal here, or contact police on 101, quoting reference 6448/07Apr. An anonymous report can also be made via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Police previously arrested a 25-year-man on suspicion of assisting an offender. He has since been released with no further action.
