John McMonigle, 45, was found with serious injuries at a property in Cumbernauld, with Police Scotland confirming his death is being treated as a murder
Police have launched a murder probe after a man was found dead with serious injuries at a home in Scotland.
Emergency services made the discovery after attending the property on Glenhove Road in Cumbernauld at around 9.20am on Wednesday.
John McMonigle, 45, was found to have suffered serious injuries. Following a post-mortem examination, Police Scotland have confirmed his death is being treated as murder.
Detectives have carried out door-to-door enquiries in the area in an effort to establish the full circumstances surrounding Mr McMonigle’s death.
Police Scotland has urged anyone with information about John’s death to come forward, the Daily Record reports.
Detective Chief Inspector Laura Young, senior investigating officer from the Major Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts are with Mr McMonigle’s family at what is an extremely difficult time for them.
“They are being supported by specially trained officers and have asked for their privacy to be respected. A dedicated team of officers is working to establish the full circumstances and they have already spoken to a number of people in the area.
“Door-to-door enquiries are continuing. We are asking anyone who saw Mr McMonigle in the lead up to his death who have not already spoken to officers to get in touch. Likewise, if you saw anything suspicious.
“We are also asking the public to check any private CCTV they might have and dash-cam footage to see if something has been captured that could assist with our investigation.
“We understand this incident will be concerning for the local community and officers remain in the area and anyone with concerns can approach them.
