From an automotive parts firm to an EV charger manufacturer, these are the latest British businesses to have filed for administration in recent weeks
Over recent weeks, multiple UK companies have crashed into administration, including a television maker, a car company and an electric vehicle giant. Businesses have been truly struggling this year, with high street shops, food producers, airlines and more encountering difficulties.
More than 100 businesses have filed for administration this month alone, according to notices published by The Gazette. Increasing costs and lack of footfall are just some of the reasons why companies may be struggling, being forced to call in help in the form of administrators. Here’s a summary of all the latest ones you should know about.
The LED Studio LTD
After 16 years in business, this British television manufacturer has filed for administration. It produced extra-large LED screens for commercial projects, including in retail spaces, stadiums, and public areas.
According to its website, LED Studio emerged as a global LED brand by 2019, “known as the industry’s best-kept secret”.
Andrew Watling and Michael Ian Field of Opus Restructuring will act on behalf of the business as it undergoes the administration process.
Surface Transforms
This Merseyside-based car manufacturer has fallen into administration after more than 30 years in operation. It had been battling for survival after losing a significant contract with General Motors, which previously made up around 84% of its revenues.
The firm, renowned for manufacturing high-performance carbon-ceramic brake discs used in supercars, had been seeking a buyer or investment while filing court notices.
Despite its efforts, it failed to secure a deal with any of the interested parties.
The Blue Sea Fishing Company
The UK’s biggest crab kitchen has collapsed into administration. The business is reportedly registered in Paignton, Devon, and prides itself on premium product quality.
At the moment, no statement has been issued regarding the company entering administration.
Eagle One Delivery Limited
A major UK freight firm has also fallen into administration. The business, based at Appleton Thorn Trading Estate, Unit 3G9 Lyncastle Way, Warrington, was founded in 2020.
There is currently no information on any jobs affected by the news. The company is understood to specialise in international transport, freight forwarding, shipping, warehousing and storage services.
Engineering Technology
After thirty years in operation, this UK firm – which generated more than £13m in revenue – has collapsed into administration.
The business had supplied machinery throughout the UK from its base in Warwickshire. According to its website, it is the UK’s “leading provider” of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines, a tool that automates precision cutting, shaping, and drilling of materials such as wood, metal, plastic, and foam.
ZPN Energy Limited
Finally, this UK electric car charger manufacturer branded a “world leader” in the technology has collapsed into administration.
The firm designs and manufactures battery-backed DC fast chargers as Britain’s EV infrastructure grows.
ZPN claims it uses patented ring topology technology to tackle significant grid supply challenges, enabling businesses to install double the number of chargers on their current grid connection without costly upgrades.
