Drivers face rush-hour chaos as a section of a busy motorway is closed.
All lanes on the M62 eastbound are shut from junction 18 – the M60 and M66 link – to junction 19 for Heywood, Greater Manchester. It is to allow emergency resurfacing works to happen on the road following a HGV fire, which closed the motorway on Tuesday. Service providers are in attendance. The closure is expected to remain ongoing until around 7.30am.
The diversion takes motorists onto the M66 and along local roads in Bury, Greater Manchester. Drivers will then reach the M62 at junction 19 to continue east for Rochdale, Huddersfield, Bradford and other destinations.
