Two busy UK motorways have been shut due to a ‘police led incident’ – with no current estimation as to when it may reopen.
The M6 in Lancashire is closed in both directions between J31 (Preston) and J32 (M55) due to an ongoing incident in the early hours of New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1. National Highways has since confirmed the M55 (eastbound) has also been closed between junction one and the M6.
A spokesperson for National Highways said: “Emergency services including Lancashire Police are in attendance. National Highways are also on scene to assist with traffic management.
“Due to the nature of the incident there is currently no estimated time for reopening. “
