The M2 remains closed after the horror Christmas Eve crash between Junction 5 for Sittingbourne and Junction 4 for Rainham
A woman in her 20s has been killed in a horrific motorway crash on Christmas Eve.
Police were called to the M2, in Kent, at around 1pm today after the crash between Junction 5 for Sittingbourne and Junction 4 for Rainham. Kent Police, Kent Fire and Rescue Service and National Highways Traffic Officers had all rushed to the scene.
A black Volkswagen T-Roc had collided with the central reservation before flipping over. Now police have said a woman in her 20s, from Faversham, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no passengers in the car or any other vehicles involved. A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Witnesses including motorists with dashcam footage are being urged to come forward following a fatal collision on the M2.
“The incident happened shortly before 12.50pm on Christmas Eve, on the London-bound carriageway close to the Medway services (Junction 4). Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit attended the incident and the carriageway was closed between Junctions 5 and 4 whilst initial enquiries were carried out.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the vehicle beforehand is urged to call the appeal line on 01622 798538 quoting reference BS/AW/092/25. Dashcam footage can also be uploaded online.”
The motorway remains closed westbound near Gillingham.
