People have been urged to do it within 14 days
London Gatwick Airport has issued a reminder to passengers on its website about a 14-day limit.
Talking about drop-off charges, the airport notes that passengers must pay the charge by midnight the day after they use the designated drop-off zones. Failure to do this could result in a fine. It explains: “Failing to pay on time will result in a Parking Charge Notice of £100, which is reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days.
To avoid the fee, it says: “Payments should be made after you exit the drop-off zone in order for your vehicle to be recognised by the Automatic Number Plate Recognition systems and for the correct fee to be calculated for your drop-off session.
“AutoPay accounts should be set up before you enter the drop-off zone in order for your account to be debited.”
Drop-off charges
Gatwick Airport explains that passengers have until midnight the following day to pay the drop-off charge. These rates are as follows:
- £10 for 10 minutes
- £1 for each additional minute up to 20 minutes
- There is a maximum daily charge of £30 and a maximum length of stay of 30 minutes
If you need more time, it recommends parking in the Short Stay car parks. Alternatively, you can park in their Long Stay car parks for free for two hours, with a free shuttle bus supplied to the terminals.
