10 fire engines and around 70 firefighters are tackling an inferno that has broken out at church in the capital. .
As per London Fire Brigade, the chapel on South Road, Southall, is well alright, with “part of the ground floor, second floor and roof” on fire, a spokesperson said.
Crews from Southall, Ealing, Heston and surrounding fire stations raced to the scene after nearly two dozen calls from the public were made to authorities to alert them of the blaze.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “South Road remains closed in both directions between Park Road and High Street and the Brigade is continuing to advise the public to avoid the area.
“Two of the Brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders were deployed to the scene to help fight the fire from above.
“Control Officers took the first of over 20 calls at 9.30pm and mobilised crews from Southall, Ealing, Heston and surrounding fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by 12.38am.”
