Calling all red wine lovers – your dreams may have just come true.
Lidl have launched a brand new ice cream flavour and it’s perfect for a hot summer day. The Red Wine Swirl ice cream is something any wine lover will want to try, and shoppers have been going crazy over the brand new flavour. The new range in Lidl from Sol Y Mar features a host of brand new unique flavours such as watermelon, blood orange and red wine – a far cry from the classic chocolate or vanilla soft scoop we usually see in the freezer aisle.
The Red Wine Swirl is perfect for those who can’t decide between having a glass of wine or a bowl of ice cream for dessert as it fuses the two together. It’s made with a red wine flavoured sorbet mixed with soft vanilla ice cream making it the perfect sweet treat. According to Lidl’s research, there has been a huge increase in searches for more unique and unusual ice cream flavours such as avocado and pesto, with searches hitting 82% and 100%. Foodie fans can pick up the brand new flavours at their local stores now, and priced at just £1.29 a tub.
It’s found that Gen Z are more likely to be experimental with their ice cream flavours, and in a study conducted by QVC ahead of the launch of the Ninja Creami appliance. Out of 2000 ice cream fans, it was found that younger generations are trying new and quirky flavours more than older people. Among some of the more unique flavours, 15 per cent wanted to try rhubarb, and 19 per cent liked the sound of a Jaffa Cake flavour. Kate James from the online retailer said: “It’s interesting to see that older adults are still sticking to the tried-and-tested flavours they grew up with but younger people are more willing to experiment.
“We also know ice cream making at home has been a growing trend with Google searches doubling since last year – let’s see what flavours they can come up with,” as reported by The Sun. Other flavours for Gen Z included Marshmallow and popcorn, with some even admitting they’d be open to trying charcoal flavoured ice cream.
