Liberty’s Beauty Advent Calendar 2024 is a festive offering that truly delivers with high-end brands and premium products, but how does it shape up to the other luxury calendars this year?
Sunday Riley, La Mer, Byredo, Lisa Eldridge, Augustinus Bader – this lineup of brands may sound like a celebrity’s Christmas wish list, but it’s actually a fraction of the luxury brands you’ll find inside the Liberty Beauty Advent Calendar this year. Unboxing this year’s festive offering, several of the doors left me quite literally speechless – and I’ve even found my new signature fragrance.
Priced at £260, the calendar delivers £1,205 worth of premium products , which is a substantial saving of £945 – making it one of the best value beauty advent calendars on the market this year, just behind the sold-out Harrods countdown. In fact, if you apply some creative ‘girl math’, each item works out at around £9.28, which is exciting considering luxury items like Sunday Riley’s Good Genes Glycolic Acid Treatment, worth £70 are featured.
Inside, there are 28 high-end products, including 18 full-size items, which is fewer than Cult Beauty’s whopping haul of 42 products (though they both contain Augustinus Bader’s The Rich Cream). But fewer products certainly doesn’t mean lower quality, as the calendar has been really carefully and thoughtfully curated, with a really high standard of coveted brands and products.
Best beauty advent calendars for 2024 that are available to buy now from Boots, Liz Earle and more
I saved more than £850 on high end products with Cult Beauty’s ‘unmatched’ 2024 advent calendar
For me, the Liberty countdown stars brands I could have only ever dreamed of purchasing. They’re the kind of brands I’d lust over from a distance, and would resist even looking at, let alone touching in a store to avoid temptation to splurge. When I opened La Mer’s Lip Volumiser, worth £72 , I was left quite literally speechless and I’m still actually a bit scared to open and use it – though I’m sure that will soon pass.
The calendar covers all major beauty categories including skincare, makeup, hair care, home fragrance, perfume and wellness. You can pamper yourself with Davines OI Milk, a nourishing hair treatment, or get ready for your Christmas events with Lisa Eldridge’s Liquid Lurex eyeshadow, which comes in the perfect shimmery shade for the party season.
I had criticised Cult Beauty’s Curated With Love edit for not starring any perfume at all, but Liberty has more than made up for that with not one, but four travel sized scents. Some people might think this is too many, taking up 14% of the calendar, but as a fragrance fanatic, I was thrilled. My personal favourite had to be the Liberty Ianthe Oud Eau de Parfum, which is worth £45. It’s a really rich, woody fragrance that’s perfect for anyone who enjoys those slightly ‘masculine’ notes, similar to Shay and Blue’s Blacks Club Leather.
Similarly, I liked that this calendar also featured some candles, seeing as most beauty focused calendars do not. The Granado Tonka Scented Candle 80g and Liberty Wild Flower Scented Candle 70g are both really different, and will be ideal for bringing a cosy atmosphere into my home over the festive season.
While the calendar covers a range of categories, this year’s selection leans heavily toward skincare. Items like the REN Clean Skincare Brightening Dark Circle Eye Cream and Augustinus Bader Rich Cream are undoubtedly top-tier, but the heavy skincare focus could be too much for some who hoped for more than four makeup products.
But of those makeup products featured, each one is seriously impressive, particularly the Byredo lipstick in the shade Reunion . I discovered their lipstick formulas last year in the Selfridges beauty advent calendar and they are simply gorgeous. The shade is a bold yet wearable red which will no doubt make an appearance at many a festive outing this winter.

While the calendar offers incredible value for money, £260 is still a considerable investment. For those who are not regular users of luxury beauty products, it may feel like a stretch, even with the impressive savings. However, if you want a beauty advent calendar without spending quite so much, there are plenty of options under £100 , such as LookFantastic and Glossybox which also offer great value.
That said, there’s no denying that Liberty’s Christmas countdown is the epitome of luxury. The variety ensures there’s something for everyone, whether you’re into home fragrance or high-performance skincare, with a mix of niche and fresh launches, as well as some iconic brands. You can buy it here for £260.
