Just because summer is over doesn’t mean your garden can’t still enjoy a pop of colour that lasts from season to season. And why settle for an average shrub when you could add a unique shape to your borders, or to create the perfect all-year centrepiece?

Thanks to Gardening Express, this Topiary Pom Pom Cloud Tree, which would normally cost a steep £199.99, is the perfect evergreen addition to any garden, patio or decking – it can even act as a house plant. And what’s more, it’s now £100 less.

This Ilex Crenata, or Pom Pom tree, is a versatile, evergreen shrub known for its small, glossy, dark green leaves that resemble boxwood, which makes it a great substitute for Buxus.

This shrub is described as being perfect for formal hedging, topiary, or low borders, as it maintains a tidy, compact shape and responds well to trimming, so you never have to worry about it losing its unique design or dying from the occasional maintenance.

Small white blooms appear in late spring, followed by small black berries on female plants throughout the summer months, while the plant retains its vibrant green leaves all year.

Arriving at a height of 100-120cm, this plant grows well in moist, well-drained soil with full sunlight or partial shade. It’s touted as a low-maintenance pick for easy gardening, and it’s resistant to many common box diseases.

Ideal for creating a structure in formal gardens or bordering paths, this pick is sure to make your lawn or patio stand out from your neighbours. Plus, it’s £100 off in this end-of-season sale.

For a different hardy shrub, head over to Thompson & Morgan to find this Ligustrum delavayanum for £99.99. Or if you want the aesthetic of unique topiary but don’t fancy the maintenance, you can find this Marco Paul Artificial Topiary Twirl Potted Tree Plant at B&Q for £58.99.
