The new feature is available at hundreds of retailers, including Boots, JustEat, Temu, Expedia, Dyson, Samsung and Hotels.com
Klarna has today announced the launch of a new service in the UK, giving its 12 million active UK users “a new way to save” ahead of the festive shopping season. With cashback, shoppers can earn up to 10% back on purchases when they buy online through the Klarna app, it said.
Cashback is available at hundreds of retailers, including Boots, JustEat, Temu, Expedia, Dyson, Samsung and Hotels.com. Klarna said new retailers were being added every week.
The cashback is applied in the Klarna app, whether paying with Klarna or another payment method. It can be redeemed as e-money to the user’s Klarna balance, to withdraw or use towards a future purchase wherever Klarna is available.
David Sandström, CMO at Klarna, said: “Cashback is another way we’re delivering on our promise to make every purchase smarter. It gives consumers real value back at their favourite retailers, just as the busiest shopping season of the year kicks off.”
Already live in 15 markets, Klarna said cashback had returned more than $25 million to consumers globally. It’s the latest addition to Klarna’s growing list of smart shopping tools – including a recently launched flexible debit card and membership programme designed to give debit-card users premium perks, including cashback on every purchase, airline lounge access and access to subscriptions, without taking on expensive credit.
How Klarna cashback works
- Shop online through the Klarna app at participating cashback retailers
- Pay however suits you best – whether that’s using Klarna Pay in Full or Pay Later, or an alternative payment option
- Cashback will be credited automatically to your “Cashback balance” within the app once the payment has gone through and the returns period has ended
- After it’s been added, the cashback can be put towards your next purchase anywhere Klarna is accepted, or converted into e-money on your Klarna balance, from where it can also be taken out

It noted that a Klarna balance account was necessary to collect cashback. Cashback distribution depends on retailer approval and may be influenced by cookie preferences, stacking offers, excluded products, or other circumstances outside our control, Klarna cautioned. Restrictions, terms and conditions apply.
