If you’re a fan of the royals, a “proven leader” and fancy writing letters on King Charles’ behalf, we’ve found a job that is perfect for you. Catching up to the new digital age, the royal family are now employing the use of the social corporate app LinkedIn in their search for their next ‘Senior Correspondence Officer,’ as posted by The Royal Household account just two weeks ago.
The on-site role offers £32,000 per annum, with the description on the ad stating: “It’s drafting a letter that someone will never forget. It’s working in a team with a shared and unique purpose, engaging with the public whilst supporting The King’s role. This is what makes working for The Royal Household so exceptional”.

“Thousands of letters are addressed to The Monarch and Royal Family every year. Working as part of the Correspondence team, your challenge will be to ensure that each one receives a timely and well composed response”.
The key responsibilities require the candidate to have “operational responsibility for a specific portfolio” where they will provide support in writing responses to letters written by the public. These could cover topics of “social, community and national matters”. The employee would also work to “draft bespoke responses that answer varying and often unique queries”.
This role will lead you to working with a team to “provide vision, leadership and direction to support the department’s overall goals”. The job description asks that applicants can “remain focused whilst processing a large number of letters, ensuring that the right response is delivered at exactly the right time”.

Looking for a “natural team player,” the Royal Household have listed their “essential criteria” below:
- “A capable and experienced administrator, you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- As a proven leader, you motivate and develop a team to deliver to a consistently high standard.
- Well organised in your approach to work, you’ll be capable of processing a large volume of correspondence to meet regular deadlines.
- Proactive with lots of initiative, you’ll be confident drafting letters and will also have strong IT skills that you’ll be able to adapt to bespoke systems.
- Possessing a keen eye for detail, you’ll always deliver work with faultless accuracy.
- Above all, you will enjoy working collaboratively with your team, learning from those around you, and contributing to the success of the department”.
