Kevin Hart has been handed an unusual role at this year’s Masters, with his comedic values on full display as he spoke alongside Bryson DeChambeau at Wednesday’s par three contest
Kevin Hart was heard yelling: “I am not a star,” as he caddied for Bryson DeChambeau at the Masters on Wednesday evening. The Hollywood megastar swapped the silver screen for the greens and fairways of Augusta National, acting as DeChambeau’s right-hand man for the par three competition.
And in a surreal interview with Sky Sports during the competition, Hart was quick to make his intentions clear. When asked about his very important role, the comedian said: “To be the best caddie that’s ever caddied.
“Guy’s I am not Kevin Hart the global superstar today. Please get that out of your mental. Not the movie star, the stand-up comedian that everybody knows around the world – throw it in the bag. Today I am Bryson’s caddie.”
As the reporter then turned to DeChambeau to speak about how the two linked up, Hart was seen turning to the greenside audience and yelling: “I am not a star,” while thrusting his hands into the air.
Speaking about their connection, DeChambeau then added: “We’ve been talking a lot about golf, he’s gotten into it over the past seven months. And he’s become a superstar in his own right on the greens by the way.”
When asked if he would get DeChambeau some putts, Hart then continued: “You know, we’ll see how the day goes. I think it depends on how he’s putting. Naturally if he’s not doing what I ask or require then I step in and I do the job myself.”
Describing Hart as a “really good caddie,” DeChambeau also explained that the two initially met while filming a video together before giving him the honour of caddying for Wednesday’s contest.
When asked about his experience of Augusta National, Hart then added: “First and foremost, it’s history right? And by history, I’m talking about the game now having a Kevin Hart that is adjacent to the level that we’re seeing here today.
