A budgeting expert has shared their brilliant hack to help with the cost of heating.
TikTok user Budgetingmumofficial told her 185,000 followers to leave the oven door open after they finish cooking to avoid the need to turn the heating on. She wrote: “Little hack to save you money on heating your home.
“If you’re already paying for the cost of the gas or electricity to heat up your oven, don’t forget to leave the door open after the food has finished cooking to help heat the room while the oven cools down.” Many online were quick to praise the hack. One wrote: “Yeah, it heats the kitchen, which is already warm because you’ve been cooking.” Another added: “Wow amazing who would have thought.” A third posted: “Wow. I didn’t know that.”
Earlier we reported on a way to cut down on bills with a quick radiator trick. TikTok user Sam Calver has recently shared a genius hack that’s set to change the game this winter. Revealing the tip he picked up from money-saving guru, Martin Lewis, Sam explained: “I can’t believe I’ve only just found out about this central heating trick.
“All I seem to be doing is turning the heating up all the time, but I saw Martin Lewis talking about the radiator foil hack, and I had to give it a go. I grabbed myself some radi savers – actually really cheap and you get about five metres of it.
“You just cut it to size, slide it down the back of your radiator, and it now reflects the heat from your radiator back into the room rather than seeping through your walls. It means you can have your heating on less and save a lot of money over time.”
The clip has since racked up hundreds of likes, with many viewers eager to test out the nifty trick themselves. One impressed commenter shared their own experience, writing: “I done the whole room – walls, roof – even the windows. I honestly know how the Xmas turkey feels sitting in its tin foil all day. Very warm, but very dark.”
Another added: “It works well. Done it since the 80s. Also, put thick aluminium foil on the ceiling. The room becomes even warmer as you don’t lose heat to the flat upstairs.” Meanwhile, a third chimed in with: “People have been doing this for donkeys years.”
