A pair of raffia wedges are the perfect pick for spring weddings and holidays, and Kate Middleton has been known to wear Castaner’s £110 pair on repeat over the years
Over the years Kate Middleton has been a constant source of outfit inspiration for those looking for timeless, sophisticated wardrobe staples. The Princess of Wales has always been known for picking pieces that can be re-worn time and time again, and has been spotted repeat-wearing everything from evening gowns to handbags on multiple occasions.
One of her most-worn pieces, however, is her Castañer Carina Suede Wedge Espadrilles, which she’s worn on repeat since 2019. Princess Kate has worn the Toasted Brown version of the wedges everywhere from Chelsea Flower Show to polo matches, often pairing them with midi and maxi dresses for an elegant spring/summer look.

Kate’s Carina Suede Wedge Espadrilles are priced at £145, and are a great versatile pick that you can wear year after year for almost any occasion. They’re ideal for wearing with wedding guest dresses during the spring and summer months, or for anything from lunches to summer holidays.
Although Kate typically pairs her Carina Suede Wedge Espadrilles with floral midi dresses and skirts, you could just as easily wear them with a pair of wide leg linen trousers or even some denim shorts. The luxe-looking raffia and suede also makes them work appropriate, giving you a great alternative to high heels for the office.
They have a 3.5inch heel which makes them comfortable and easy to walk in, with a self-tie fastening around the ankle. The round close toe is made from 100% suede finished leather, and they have a subtle cut out detail at the back.
They’re currently available at Selfridges in all sizes from 3 to 8, but all are showing as low in stock and selling fast, so you’ll need to be quick to get your hands on a pair. Selfridges also stock a slightly different version for those with a tighter budget, with the Castañer Carina Self-Tie Cotton Wedge Espadrilles priced at £110.
This lighter cream version has wider “self tying” ankle straps and a cotton canvas-style covering on the toe. If you want to nab an even bigger bargain, Next currently has them reduced to £70, although there are very limited sizes left in stock.
Jones Bootmaker has slashed the price of its very similar Alyssa Wedge Espadrille Sandals from £89 to £71.20. ASOS has also launched its own ultra-affordable version, with the ASOS DESIGN Tyra Closed Toe Wedges In Natural Linen priced at £30.
