With Christmas fast approaching, Decathlon is helping families gear up for the festive season with a limited time trade-in deal that rewards customers with extra savings on new purchases. Until November 2, shoppers can trade in their old bikes and receive an additional 20% bonus on top of the usual BuyBack value, available exclusively in store.

The offer is designed to make Christmas gifting a little easier and greener by encouraging families to swap outgrown or unused bikes for something new. Whether it’s a child’s first set of wheels, an upgrade to the next size, or simply a chance to clear some space at home, the initiative helps parents get ready for the holidays while supporting a sustainable cycle of reuse.

Each bike traded in is assessed by Decathlon’s in-store team, with customers receiving a gift card loaded with the trade-in value and the added 20% bonus. Pre-loved models are then refurbished and resold through Decathlon’s Second Life scheme, giving them a new home rather than ending up in landfill.

Last year, children’s bikes were among Decathlon’s top sellers, and the retailer hopes this incentive will make quality bikes even more accessible for families this year. Chris Allen, sustainability leader at Decathlon UK, said: “By offering a bonus on our BuyBack scheme, we are helping parents clear out their shed, gear up for Christmas by giving them additional funds to put towards a new gift, while pre-loved bikes get a second life with another child who’ll enjoy the ride just as much.”

To access the BuyBack offer, customers must be a Decathlon member, which is free to join online. Membership also provides access to perks like purchase rewards and activity points, and all BuyBack gift cards are stored digitally for convenience.

Shoppers can trade in their old bikes and receive an additional 20% bonus on top of the usual BuyBack value, available exclusively in store.

Once signed up, trading in a bike takes just three simple steps: complete the online assessment and book an in-store appointment, bring the bike to a local Decathlon store for evaluation and then receive a gift card with the 20% bonus included.

If customers don’t fancy trying Decathlon’s program this winter, they could have a look towards Sports Direct, which also has a range of sportswear, trainers, equipment and membership options with exclusive offers, monthly prize draws and events. Go Outdoors is another alternative place for customers to get great deals and exclusives, such as 15% off selected lines on fishing, sleeping bags and tour packages.

Decathlon has been rated highly on Trustpilot, as one person said: “Decathlon offers great product variety and fairly competitive prices. I am always assured by the knowledge of the staff if I have a question.

“There’s a great online offering as well as in shop, I have bought a few items from them and I’ve always been happy with the quality. I feel confident they have done the due diligence on items before I buy, hence it has always been good quality.”

Another said: “Always great service from the bicycle repair team. I just brought in my bicycle for front wheel/handlebar alignment and the service is quick and efficient. Thank you again to Sergio and all the team.” Some others had feedback, however, as one said: “Bought a bicycle, the product is great quality but there’s not enough information on the make and model of parts (very vague) and no documentation came with this.”

A happy customer praised Decathlon, saying: “Have bought a couple of bicycle items (tyres and lights) recently from Decathlon. Both times the prices were good, items were well packaged and were delivered quickly. Would certainly use them again.”
