A Jet2 passenger flight on its way to Spain has declared an emergency over the north-west of England.
The flight from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to Palma de Mallorca Airport issued a general emergency alert this morning, according to flight tracking data.
Squawk posted on X that the Jet2 Boeing 737-800 plane was issuing a 7700 general emergency alert, the Manchester Evening News reports.
The emergency signal. known as squawking 7700, was reportedly declared at 12,875 ft on its flight path towards Spain as it approached Manchester.
According to the Flightradar24 website, the 8:00am flight changed direction as it flew near Shrewsbury before heading back towards Liverpool.
The flight now appears to have made an unscheduled landing at Manchester Airport, according to tracking data from Flightradar24.
