Liz Earle has launched its new Cleanse and Glow Brightening Cleansing Balm and it’s already proving to be a hit with beauty insiders
Liz Earle has long been known for its iconic and award-winning Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser. But the British beauty brand has just launched a new cleansing balm perfect for evening skincare routines – and it might just be a new favourite.
The heritage skincare brand has expanded its bestselling Glow collection with a luxurious cleansing balm that melts away makeup, SPF and daily grime while leaving skin soft and glowy. The Cleanse and Glow Brightening Cleansing Balm joins the brand’s vitamin C-powered range, which it can be used alongside for the ultimate radiance-boosting routine.
The buttery formula is scientifically proven to brighten the appearance of skin while cleansing, making it an ideal first step in any glow-focused routine. The balm is powered by vitamin C-rich acerola cherry – the hero ingredients throughout Liz Earle’s Glow range – alongside gently exfoliating prickly pear and sea buckthorn.
Together, they work to remove makeup, excess oil and impurities while helping skin appear brighter and smoother over time. Suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin, it’s pH-balanced and formulated to cleanse thoroughly without disrupting the skin barrier.
I’ve tried countless cleansing balms over the years, and Elemis’ Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm is a difficult one to beat. The cream to oil to milk texture, paired with the essential oil blend give it a spa-like experience, with anti-ageing ingredients that make it all the more appealing. But at £52 for 100g, I’m often on the lookout for something a little more affordable.
Cleanse & Glow Brightening Cleansing Balm 100ml
Cleanse & Glow Brightening Cleansing Balm removes make-up, impurities and pore-clogging dirt, leaving skin brighter and smoother. Enriched with naturally active ingredients, including acerola cherry, it helps to leave the complexion looking more radiant.
Priced at £30 for 100g – £22 cheaper than Elemis – Liz Earle’s latest formula comes pretty close, and is far superior than some of the others I’ve encountered. The texture is beautifully rich and buttery straight from the jar, and melts almost instantly into a silky oil as you massage it into dry skin.
It makes light work of foundation, SPF and waterproof mascara without any harsh rubbing and most importantly, doesn’t make my sensitive eyes sting as I’ve found with other formulas. Unlike some cleansing balms that require a cloth to remove the product, this formula rinses away easily with just water, although I do often like to use a cloth or cotton round.
The cleanser boasts a really uplifting citrus scent, which gives it that sense of luxury that I love about Elemis , but is often missing from other products on the market. And after a few uses over the course of a week, I also found my skin looked fresher and healthier.
My only improvement would be to make the pot a little wider, or provide a tool to scoop the product out with. It’s a lot narrower than Elemis’ container and as someone with long manicured nails, it can be a little tricky to scoop out the amount of cleanser I want to use without getting it under my nails.
For those looking for something a little different, the Skin Rocks Cleansing Balm Fragrance Free, £58, is another top choice. From skincare expert Caroline Hirons’ brand, the lipid-rich formula delivers supreme skin barrier support to help improve skin firmness, elasticity and hydration.
Although the Liz Earle cleansing balm works brilliantly on its own, it’s designed as part of Liz Earle’s Glow collection, with the brand reporting that 94% of users agreed their skin looked brighter and more radiant after seven days when using the full routine. For those looking to build a complete brightening skincare routine, the Cleanse and Glow Transforming Gel Cleanser, £28, is perfect as a second cleanse or for morning use to leave skin feeling fresh and radiant.
Meanwhile, the Smooth and Glow Exfoliating Tonic provides gentle resurfacing to sweep away dead skin cells for smoother, brighter-looking skin without irritation. And for anyone seeking out a new summer moisturiser, the Revitalise and Glow Illuminating Gel Moisturiser is ideal for warm sunny days, delivering lightweight hydration with an instant glow.
Plus, for a limited time Liz Earle is offering 3 for 2 on a number of products, making it the ideal time to build a personalised routine. And I highly recommend you make the new Cleanse and Glow Brightening Cleansing Balm a part of it.
