A Londoner named Lilly headed to some of the more expensive and posh areas of the capital to see what locals donate to charity shops and was left gobsmacked by what she found
A woman was left stunned after embarking on a charity shopping journey across London, only to find that what she described as ‘the best ones’ brimming with various designer pieces. While charity shop browsing can feel overwhelming, it can occasionally yield fantastic finds.
To demonstrate just how rewarding it can be, one Londoner called Lilly took to TikTok to document her mission visiting charity shops throughout some of London’s wealthiest neighbourhoods to see what locals might have donated, and she certainly wasn’t disappointed.
Lilly made her way to King’s Road in Chelsea before using her phone’s map application to locate every charity shop in the vicinity, covering both Chelsea and South Kensington. She went on to share her shopping adventure with her 147,000 TikTok followers, having been astonished by the items she discovered.
“I go charity shopping in the richest parts of London and here’s what I found,” Lilly said at the start of her video. She went on to say: “Some WAG must have donated her entire wardrobe. That was so much designer.”
Among the pieces she pulled from the rails was a Longchamp bag priced at £68, which typically retails for more than £100. She also claimed there was ‘so much Prada’ concealed alongside pieces from Lululemon and Alo, plus a Celine bag displayed in a case beside some Prada loafers.
“I have honestly never found so much designer stuff charity shopping in my life,” she said. “Somebody actually donated brand new Prada loafers and this Rat & Boa dress. This was only £63 and it retails on the website for £275.”
She continued to say: “Rich people donate so much expensive gym wear like Alo, Lululemon. Actually cannot go over how much good stuff I found.”
She proceeded to showcase trainers from Adidas and Nike that appeared virtually unworn. She also discovered Aaliyah pumps, a Miu Miu skirt, and a black Celine leather jacket, items which typically retail for ‘thousands of pounds’.
While numerous pieces still commanded prices exceeding £100, making them pricier than your typical charity shop, Lilly argued: “Yes, I’ll agree these pieces are expensive, but you got to remember this is central London. People in these charity shops are trained to know how much stuff retails for.”
“Like, you’re not gonna get designer stuff for £5,” she added. Concluding the video, she said: “Still cannot believe how much good stuff I actually found.”
Lilly wasn’t alone in her amazement at the various treasures she uncovered, as viewers flocked to the comment section to express their reactions.
“Omg I need to go,” one person wrote, while another said: “Loveeeee a charity shop run.”
“I never find nothing, just old ugly stuff,” a third person complained.
Someone else recommended: “Putney has some great bits in the charity shops at the moment too! You found soo many good bits!”
