Vicky Curtis-Cresswell, 38, has scooped the latest Omaze Million Pound House Draw in Norfolk – the first home she has ever owned
An ex-beauty queen is now the proud owner of a mega mansion in the English countryside – and it’s the first property she’s ever owned. Former Miss Wales finalist, Vicky Curtis-Cresswell, 38, who was living with family and on the hunt for a rental property, has hit the jackpot by winning a £6 million house.
Vicky is the lucky winner of the latest Omaze Million Pound House Draw in Norfolk, marking her first ever home ownership. She now holds the keys to a stunning New England-style coastal property, drawing architectural inspiration from Cape Cod and the Hamptons. Her new digs are the most expensive property ever given away in a UK prize draw.
The house boasts a wrap-around balcony providing unobstructed, panoramic views of the North Norfolk Coast, a heated swimming pool, and its very own all-weather astroturf tennis court.
The property comes mortgage-free, with all stamp duty and legal fees taken care of. To help her settle in, Vicky has also been gifted a hefty £250,000 in cash.
She has the freedom to either live in the house, rent it out for additional income, or sell it at her convenience to become a cash multimillionaire.
Omaze estimates that if Vicky chooses to keep the luxurious property, the £250,000 would allow her to comfortably maintain the house for nearly ten years.
The house also includes £165,000 worth of furnishings, ready for Vicky to enjoy from the moment she receives the keys.
If she opts to rent it out, local estate agents estimate that the property could fetch a long-term rental value of £5,500 per month.
Vicky, who scooped up her £6 million winning ticket for a mere £10, was once a contestant in the Miss Wales competition back in 2008, where she bagged the title of Most Driven Contestant.
Currently, she resides with her husband Dale, 41, and their young daughter in her in-law’s three-bedroom house in Wales. The family were in the midst of searching for a rental property to call home.
An astounded Vicky shared: “When Omaze first called to tell me I’d won a prize, I didn’t dare dream it could be the house.”We were all so excited, I asked my daughter if she thought we’d won the house, and she said yes, I should’ve known we’d won the Grand Prize there and then as she’s always right!”When the Omaze film crew turned up outside our house, I started to think it might be the house, but it’s just too big a thing to even imagine.
”The neighbours were all chatting away on the street’s WhatsApp group, when they saw the cameras they joked that they thought it was probably Crime Watch!
”Then in a matter of seconds our lives changed forever and we became multi-millionaires.
”I was absolutely flabbergasted, my sister in-law burst out crying, it was a mixture of shock and pure joy.
“Like a lot of people, it’s fair to say times can be tough, we both work so hard but things can still feel stretched some months. Winning this house feels like an enormous weight has been lifted.
“It’s just crazy, one week we’re worrying about our old car breaking down, the next thing we’ve got a £6M house!”.
“My mother-in-law feels like she’s won the jackpot as we can now move out!
”’I never thought our first house would be worth £6M! When I was young I used to tell my nan I always wanted a house with a veranda, but I couldn’t pronounce it, so I would say ‘beranda’. I can’t believe I now own a house with the biggest ‘beranda’ I’ve ever seen.
“We get £250,000 as part of the win – which would easily cover any running costs for the house for years – but I think we’ll sell it to release the money and buy another amazing house somewhere in Wales.
”We’ll be having a big party in Norfolk before we sell up, we can’t wait to invite all our friends and family.”
Vicky’s truly one-of-a-kind coastal home offers unparalleled views of the surrounding countryside, towards Blakeney Point, including salt marshes and the vast open sea of the North Norfolk Coast.
In addition to the wrap-around balconies, the house has been meticulously designed to incorporate sight lines that maximise the views and natural light, which floods the house through large, hardwood, double-glazed windows with thin glazing bars.
The nearly 5,000 sq ft house is a tribute to New England style and design, incorporating luxurious living spaces perfect for Vicky to host her friends and family either within the spacious property itself or in the stunning gardens.
The custom-built kitchen boasts an island, dining area, quartz worktops and top-of-the-range appliances. There’s also a separate dining room and a spacious yet cosy living room.
Upstairs, you’ll find three bedrooms, including the expansive main bedroom which features French doors leading out to a balcony, two dressing areas and an en suite bathroom. Both the bedroom and balcony provide panoramic views, as do most of the rooms on both floors.
The sizeable landing includes an office or reading area, along with a beautifully designed vaulted ceiling. All bathroom fittings are from Neptune.
The meticulous attention to detail extends outside, where you’ll find well-kept gardens, a courtyard, a tree-lined avenue driveway and a raised garden section with a loggia-covered barbecue and dining area, equipped with a small kitchen and bathroom.
Additional outdoor amenities include a separate summer house, an all-weather astroturf tennis court and a heated outdoor swimming pool. The lucky winner will also have access to a secluded pontoon for launching tenders and small boats.
The property is located near Blakeney – a quintessential coastal village characterised by charming flint cottages lining narrow streets that lead down to the picturesque quay. The village offers excellent pubs – such as The White Horse and Kings Arms – a bustling delicatessen, art galleries, The Moorings fish restaurant, the renowned Blakeney Hotel and the convenience of a village store.
The Omaze Million Pound House Draw in Norfolk hasn’t just made Vicky a multimillionaire; it’s pulled in a whopping £4.1 million for Comic Relief.
Thanks to the funds gathered through the successful partnership with Omaze, Comic Relief’s ‘Every Step of the Way’ initiative will get a significant boost. This programme is pivotal in offering much-needed support to vulnerable young people at risk, helping to prevent and mitigate the repercussions of homelessness in their lives.
This fruitful collaboration with Omaze has received a thumbs-up from none other than broadcaster and Comic Relief Ambassador Rylan Clark.
James Oakes, the top dog at Omaze, expressed his delight: “Everyone at Omaze is thrilled that Vicky and her family have won our Grand Prize whilst also contributing to the massive amount raised by the Omaze Community for Comic Relief.
“Omaze gives people the chance to win life-changing prizes, whilst also raising money for charities, it’s a real win-win for entrants and our charity partners.”
He further beamed with pride stating, “We’re extremely proud that the Omaze Community has raised over £81 million for good causes across the UK.”
