Refy’s Gloss Highlighter promises a natural faux glow thanks to it’s lightweight formula – so I decided to put my fears of liquid highlighter aside and give it a try
Having a good highlighter can be the shining star of your makeup bag – literally. They can revive a dull looking complexion, and make your skin glow, even if you’re not feeling it. They are perfect for enhancing a bit of skin shimmer, and Refy’s Gloss Highlighter promises just that.
When it comes to liquid highlighters, I am a little cautious, as I don’t want to look too shiny – and being blessed with oily skin can maximise shine even when I don’t want it too. I have usually avoided liquid highlighter in the past due to not being able to blend them well, so I was intrigued as I’d heard how easy this was to apply.

There are a various different highlighter formulas on the market including powders, sticks and creams, but I think liquid highlighters come out on top every time. They give the most natural glow, and are easily applied with your fingers, instantly giving glass-like skin.
When I first saw the Refy Gloss highlighter, I won’t deny, I was a little hesitant due to how bronzed it looked, and I didn’t want it to dull down the pinkiness of my cream blush. I applied a small dab onto my middle finger and then tapped it over my cheekbones lightly.
The highlighter seamlessly applied to my skin and I couldn’t believe how much it transformed my cheekbones. It complimented my blush well and it gave me a beautiful pearly glow. It gave a very intense shimmer, that really elevated my makeup look, and something I’ve never had before.
Even my friends had commented on how good my makeup looked, and my only difference was that I’d used the highlighter. It works for an array of different skin tones which makes it the perfect highlighter for everyone.
My one concern about liquid highlighters is that it’s so easy to add too much, and end up looking a little extraterrestrial, so with the Refy gloss, a little definitely goes a long way – which is great as it will last me a while.
Crafted with a lightweight, non-sticky formula that glides on effortlessly it definitely gives a radiant, dewy glow. Packed with Vitamin E, it helps to leave the skin feeling nourished. What I also like is that it doesn’t have to just be applied to your cheekbones, it can be used on eyelids, under brow, cupid’s bow, lips and collarbones too.
Shoppers have given it a glowing 4.9 star review, with many gushing over the product. One fan said: “The most beautiful fluid highlighter I’ve ever tried. Beautiful not too light color, non sticky, with a mix of a shiny/ pearly finish.” While another said: “I love this highlighter, it blends well and gives a glowy look, but it doesn’t last as long as I’d have hoped.”
Rare Beauty also have a range of different highlighters which are also popular with beauty lovers. The Positive Light Liquid Luminizer works well with all skin tones and is long-lasting and lightweight, making it easy to layer over other creams, liquids and powders without disturbing makeup. Packed with light-reflecting pearl particles, it provides a luminous finish to the skin.
A cheaper alternative is the e.l.f. Halo Glow Highlight Beauty Wand Liquid Highlighter for a luminous glowing skin effect. With a cushion-tipped applicator, it provides a naturally sculpted complexion and it makes it easy to use and blend in.
