Fashion writer Bethan Shufflebotham has styled a spring-ready frock from former Made in Chelsea star Louise Thompson’s collection with Nobody’s Child

Three ways to wear this Louise Thompson x Nobody’s Child dress

I’ve always been a firm believer that an outfit has the power to evoke confidence and make the wearer feel empowered. And that’s exactly what Louise Thompson has seemingly set out to achieve with her latest collection with Nobody’s Child.

I’ve long admired the former Made in Chelsea star, not just for her effortlessly polished style, but for her honesty and resilience. Over the years, she’s been refreshingly open about everything from mental health to motherhood, and more recently, her fertility struggles.

Last month, I watched in awe as she and her husband, Ryan, sat on the This Morning sofa to discuss their surrogacy journey with Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley. I was undoubtedly moved by her story and the message she delivered so eloquently, but as a fashion fan, I couldn’t help but notice her beautiful frock, too – and there’s a very good reason she wore it for the occasion.

Louise wore the Cream Lace Trim Jasmine Midi Dress from her Nobody’s Child edit, describing it in a lengthy Instagram caption as ‘my armour’ – a nod to the quiet strength it gave her during such a vulnerable moment.

Each piece in the edit is inspired by Louise’s own experiences ‘navigating motherhood, work, rest and celebration for a wardrobe that moves with you through all life’s chapters’. The collection has also been ‘designed for everyone’, available in petite and regular lengths.

This piece is part of Louise Thompson’s edit, a selection of spring styles designed for everyone, perfected for petite. This cream midi dress is shaped by underbust seams and a tie-back detail before the drop waist falls to a tiered skirt. It’s finished with sheer lace and pintuck detailing.

While there are plenty of pretty picks from the collection, from gingham rompers to 70s inspired dungarees, the Cream Lace Trim Jasmine Midi Dress is one of my favourites from the range. This frock is shaped by underbust seams and a tie-back detail before the drop waist falls to a floaty tiered skirt. It’s finished with sheer lace and pintuck detailing for a romantic, feminine feel.

Made from 100% organic cotton, it’s perfect for spring and summer styling, and to prove it, I’ve styled it up three ways for various occasions and settings, from the beach to date night. And what’s more is that it’s currently got 20% off, taking it down from £150 to £127.50. Here’s how I’ve been wearing it:

Look one – weekend coffee

For my first outfit, I leaned into one of the season’s biggest trends – western. I paired the dress with a denim waistcoat, which, teamed with the lace detailing on the dress, gave the look a boho, Coachella-ready vibe.

While tan leather or suede boots would have worked exceptionally well, I introduced a pop of colour with these red leather cowboy boots. I completed the look with a cream leather bag and a blue and rust-coloured neck tie.

This feels like an outfit that works for almost any daytime event, be it brunch, shopping trips or casual days out.

Look two – holiday

For a beach-ready look, I stripped everything back and kept accessories simple with tan leather sandals and a straw shopper bag. This is where the dress really shines as you can see all of the intricate detailing on the skirt, the sleeves and on the bodice.

The fabric is breathable for the warmer weather and light in colour meaning it will reflect the heat better than darker options. The neutral cream shade also means it pairs effortlessly with natural textures. It’s understated but still polished, and would work just as well for a seaside lunch as it would for a holiday stroll.

Look three – date night

To take the dress into the evening for date night, I styled it with an oversized brown blazer and knee-high leather boots.

The richer tones instantly make the look feel more elevated, while the blazer adds structure to balance the softness of the skirt. It’s an easy way to transition the dress into something more occasion-ready – perfect for dinner dates or drinks when wanting to feel look together without too much effort.

Elsewhere, at FatFace, this Flo White Regular Broderie Midi Dress comes in at £110. It features a similar fitted bodice and button down front, with intricate broderie detail and slightly puffed sleeves. It also has a slightly elasticated waist for a more comfortable fit, with a flowing skirt made from 100% cotton.

Meanwhile, at River Island, there’s this holiday-ready Cream Broderie Cami Maxi Dress for £59. While it’s not made from cotton, I do particularly love the flower strap details on this one.

Back at Nobody’s Child I wasn’t the only one impressed with Louise’s dress. Shoppers have praised the fit and finish, particularly for petites, with one calling it “perfectly designed” and another noting the “stunning quality and classic style.” One wrote: “In love with this dress, beautiful detail and perfect fit which is so rare being petite! Perfectly designed.”

“The cut and quality of this dress is so pretty,” said another. “It fits perfectly and the colour is so nice, the material is also not too sheer. Perfect for summer.”

A third wrote: “Stunning quality and classic style. I haven’t washed it yet but it’s perfect in every way so far. I’m 5ft and wear an 8-10 and I’m an 8 in this.”

A small number of reviewers mentioned the colour leaning slightly more yellow than expected, commenting: “Recently ordered this dress but returned as the colour was not as expected it was more a yellowish tint, also bust line looked strange, a bit disappointed.”

But another penned: “Absolutely stunning dress, like wearing a summer’s day. Elegant, feminine, and beautifully detailed – the perfect dress for spring-summer.”

Overall, this is a beautifully made, lightweight cotton dress that feels perfect for spring and summer, with a flattering fit and on-trend details. It’s versatile enough to style across multiple occasions with a gorgeous cream, almost buttermilk tone I think is softer and more forgiving than white.

The only real downside is that it creases quite easily – but a quick steam sorts that out. Most importantly, though, it’s a dress that makes me feel good – not just good, in fact, but strong, feminine and ready to take on anything the day throws at me. Louise Thompson, take a bow, girl.
