After seeing dozens of people raving about the M&S stain remover wipes, editor Abigail Nicholson decided to put the £1.25 product to the test on a bright red berry stain
After seeing every man, woman and their dog talking about the Marks and Spencer stain remover wipes, I thought it was finally time to put them to the test and see if they are really worth their weight in gold. Anybody who has dogs or messy children in their home, knows just how important it is to have a fantastic stain remover at hand.
There are numerous tips and tricks for removing stains from clothes and furniture, but none are particularly practical for use while out and about. It’s hardly feasible to lug around white vinegar, bicarbonate of soda or bleach in your handbag just in case of emergencies.
Whereas a pack of £1.25 stain removal wipes that are no bigger than a packet of baby wipes are the perfect addition to any handbag, backpack or kitchen cupboard.
With my toddler currently surviving on various berries along with ice pops and pure vibes, it’s safe to say I have been seeing many more stains, at a much higher frequency over the last few months.
With this came a lovely strawberry juice stain on a boucle bench cushion in the hallway, as I gave her a snack to make sure she sat still while I ran around to get our bag ready for a day at the park.
After noticing the stain before I left, I waited until several hours later before getting out my trusty M&S stain removal wipes to get the cushion back to normal.
I recorded the entire process of removing the stain so you can see for yourselves that it only took 25 seconds to remove the bright red stain. You read that correctly, 25 seconds.
Bouclé stains can feel incredibly difficult to remove because the fabric’s textured loops easily trap spills deep inside, while its delicate structure is highly prone to water rings, shrinkage, and snagging.
But this was not a problem for the stain removing wipes, which foamed around the stain to effortlessly remove it.
According to the M&S website, the product, which is suitable for vegans and vegetarians, ‘tackle tough spots and spills effortlessly’. The product description states: “Specially formulated with plant-based and biodegradable ingredients to work on a variety of surfaces, they lift marks without damage, leaving your home spotlessly clean. “These sustainable wipes are made in the UK with a bespoke fragrance featuring almond and sweet orange essential oils.”
