Our Mirror shopping lead reviews Habitat’s top-selling £165 outdoor storage box with 300+ glowing reviews from buyers
Last month, I finally gave my tiny patio a bit of a makeover. After years of mismatched garden chairs and random plant pots, I invested in some proper outdoor furniture, an outdoor rug and a parasol to make it feel more like an extension of the house rather than a forgotten patch of paving slabs. The only problem is that I quickly realised I had nowhere to actually store everything.
Leaving cushions outside permanently in the British weather never ends well, and my rug definitely wasn’t surviving repeated rain showers and bird-related incidents. With a baby on the way and a pram already taking over most of the house, I also wanted something large enough to hide away outdoor clutter without swallowing up my already-small patio space.
After spotting more than 300 glowing reviews online, I ordered Habitat’s Keter Signature 570L outdoor storage box in the graphite grey colourway. At 570 litres, it’s much bigger than it looks in photos, and I was so surprised by how much it fits inside. Mine currently holds outdoor cushions, a folded rug, cleaning bits, gardening tools and even leaves enough room for our pram when needed.
Priced at £165, it’s one of the cheaper options for its large capacity, beating the likes of OHS and Dunelm in terms of affordability. However, Amazon does offer some great options as well, like the Keter Signature 570L Outdoor Storage Box in the lovely Ashwood Brown colourway, priced at a slightly higher £180.
Mrs Hinch fans are raving about patio cleaner that makes patios and decking ‘look like new’
The design itself is surprisingly sleek for something so functional. Rather than looking like a bulky plastic box dumped in the corner, it blends in nicely with darker outdoor furniture. It’s also weather-proof and lockable, which gave me confidence leaving everything outside rather than dragging cushions indoors every evening.
The only real downside was putting it together. I wouldn’t call it difficult, but there are a lot of screws involved. It took my partner and me around 90 minutes to fully assemble, and I’d definitely recommend using a drill rather than attempting it manually with the tiny Allen key provided. Once built, though, it felt sturdy and durable rather than flimsy.
And judging by the reviews, I’m not the only one impressed by Habitat’s storage box. One shopper wrote: “This is fantastic for providing extra storage in the garden and has ensured my cushions are kept dry. It feels robust despite the relatively lightweight materials.”
Another reviewer called it “very sturdy and weatherproof” with “plenty of room for luggage and toolboxes”, while a third praised how it “keeps our outside space tidy.”
For smaller patios especially, it solves a problem you don’t really think about until you’ve bought outdoor furniture. Now everything has somewhere to go, and my patio actually stays looking tidy rather than permanently mid-setup.
