A woman shared her impressive Too Good To Go bag haul from M&S on Boxing Day, revealing she paid just £5 for sandwiches, ready meals and fresh produce worth much more
Christmas is a great time of year to pick up a Too Good To Go bag – as you can get a load of festive goodies for a fraction of the normal price.
This month, numerous food outlets have partnered with the app to flog items that are approaching their sell-by date. You can nab some serious bargains – and it’s good for the planet as it prevents food waste too! The only catch is you won’t know what products you’re getting until you open the mystery boxes up.
However, to show just how great the app can be at this time of year, a savvy shopper called Becky took to Facebook to share her haul from M&S. In her informative video, she gushed: “Christmas is definitely the best time to get a Too Good to Go bag”.
Becky was astounded by “how much food” she’d managed to bring home after visiting the supermarket in Lymm, Cheshire.
The shop assistant assured her that there was “more than the money’s worth” – and they were definitely telling the truth there!
Among the goodies were a smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich, a cheddar New Yorker sandwich, chicken pieces, a naked katsu chicken poke bowl, a pigs in blankets sandwich, a roast chicken and chorizo sandwich, a beef and peppercorn mayo sub roll, a berry and grape medley, a roast chicken sandwich, watermelon chunks and two Cantonese-style sweet and sour chicken ready meals.
The total value of the food haul was significantly more than £5 – and the contents of the bag would likely still be good to eat the following day.
During the festive period, it could also be a nice idea to give out any surplus food to those in need. Alternatively, you can share the goodies with your friends and family.

To get your own Too Good To Go bag, download their app and scroll through the nearby stores participating in the scheme.
You can ‘reserve’ bags before collecting them to save disappointment when arriving at your chosen store.
All bags contain items that would have otherwise ended up in the bin due to their sell-by dates – with most costing around £2 to £5, depending on what store you select.
