Beauty editor Laura asked the professionals for the exact cut, styling technique and products needed to create Molly-Mae Hague’s go-to voluminous blow dry with flicked-in ends
With her documentary Molly-Mae: Behind It All now streaming on Amazon Prime (keep reading for how to watch it for free), fans are getting more of a glimpse inside influencer Molly-Mae Hague’s life than ever before, from her go-to beauty products to her chic Cheshire home.
While the 25-year-old does sometimes experiment with different hairstyles, but there’s one look that’s she been sporting regularly recently: a bouncy, layered blow dry with gently curled under ends that looks thick and healthy – think a modern, youthful take on the recent ‘mob wife’ aesthetic – and it’s my new hair inspo.
So, with my locks in desperate need of a trim and tidy up and me keen for some styling advice on how from a professional on how to get the Molly-Mae look, I headed to Andrew Jose salon in London, where hair stylist and salon director Natasha understood the brief entirely.
Here’s what to ask for in the salon and some top home styling tips to copy the look yourself…

The cut
Although she often wears these hair extensions, Molly-Mae’s hair is a lot short than mine in these photos, and I was keen to keep hold of as much of my length as possible. Luckily Natasha said that, despite it being months since my last haircut, she wouldn’t need to take much off the ends; mainly just cut in a stronger shape around the face.
She did this by cutting my hair in diagonal sections, bringing it forward then cutting into a graduated shape at the front. This, she explained, would also create a nice soft shape both from the front and the back (no blunt lines or straggly ends). Natasha then added more shape to the sections around my face, starting just below my chin.
The styling method
First, my hair was blow dried upside down until it was about 75% dry, focusing on the roots. “Blow drying your hair in the opposite direction to the way it naturally grows will give the most volume – upside down and forwards,” said Natasha. She also used her fingers to hold my hair away from the roots – a good tip if, like mine, your hair gets knotty easily.
Next, product was applied; an important step. Natasha used Revlon Professionals Style Masters Elevator Spray, currently £9.79, to add volume to the roots and lengths and Revlon Professionals Restart Color Balayage Care Cream, currently £10, to smooth the ends, but she said any favourite styling spray or mousse would work (I love Living Proof Texturising Foam, £27).
Then, starting with the front sections, my hair was blow dried around a large round bristle brush. “If you’re hair’s prone to frizz, keep the brush still, as brushing creates static,” said Natasha.
Once dry, it was looped around and pinned in a curl to cool, with large velcro rollers used on the top sections. Molly-Mae is sometimes seen talking to the camera while sporting rollers in her hair so I knew that this was a key part of the look – I’ll be buying this £8.99 multipack of velcro rollers and pins when doing the look myself at home.
To finish, my head was lightly misted with a super-fine hairspray, and once this was dry the pins and rollers were removed and my hair was gently brushed out.
The result was hair that looked bouncier and more polished than it had in ages, with flattering shape around my face and a decent amount of lift at my roots – and even better, I now knew how to copy the look myself at home.
I also reckon that my favourite BaByliss Air Wand, £120, will be great for creating this look.
