A woman who appeared to be lunging at strangers with a weapon on a busy Bangkok street was only stopped when bystanders ‘trapped’ her in a taxi, it has been reported.
Disturbing footage shows the moment a woman was seemingly swinging a knife at passers-by in the Nana area of Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday (January 16), as reported by mothership.
A witness, who posted the ordeal on Instagram, said he was walking the streets of Sukhumvit Soi 3 when he said he heard before screaming.
User @niccorocks added he then saw “a woman with a knife trying to attack people”.
In the footage, the woman appeared to be walking along the streets with the knife visible in her right hand.
Moments later, she appeared to lung at a man who was trying to stop her. He seemingly kicked in her direction which caused her to walk the opposite way, Daily Star reports.
As she strolled along the street, other passers-by appeared to dodge out of her way until she charged at a woman at random.
The ordeal only appeared to come to an end when she jumped into a taxi.
Bystanders mobilised into action in a bid to stop the vehicle from leaving and alerted the taxi driver.
Once essentially trapped inside the cab, further footage shows people confronting her and swarming around the car, during which she appeared to become even more irritated and aggressive, lashing out inside the vehicle and allegedly refusing to surrender the weapon.
Eventually, a local police officer entered the taxi from the opposite side and managed to apprehend her.
According to the witness, another Grab driver in the area had “ended up jumping inside the taxi and getting the knife from her with the help of others”.
He also alleged the woman reportedly stabbed a boy.
She was arrested at the scene, Mothership reports.
