A person has been found in the water at Salford Watersports Centre in Manchester this afternoon

Police have pulled a body from the water outside a popular sports activity site.

Officers and emergency services were called to Salford Watersports Centre in Manchester earlier today after being alerted by a member of the public. Multiple fire engines and ambulance service vehicles were also seen in attendance.

A police spokesperson confirmed a body had been removed from the water. Formal identification is yet to take place. Further details about the person found and the circumstances surrounding the tragedy have not been confirmed.

A forensic tent has been erected with experts sweeping the area for evidence. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed it attended the incident to support police.

Officers have taped off an area of Salford Quays close to the Watersports Centre, with officers seen manning a cordon. The Quays road is closed in both directions from Winnipeg Quay to Salford Watersports Centre, according to Inrix.
