The ArtSpritz drink is currently available in Home Bargains for just £4.49 and shoppers say it’s the nearest thing to an Aperol Spritz they’ve ever tasted

With warmer weather on the horizon, many Brits will be eagerly anticipating their favourite summer drinks. One beverage that’s grown increasingly popular in recent years is the Aperol Spritz.

The beloved cocktail typically combines Aperol, Prosecco and soda water. Now eagle-eyed shoppers at Home Bargain have discovered a product that tastes “exactly like” the classic drink, yet costs just £4.49.

ArtSpritz bills itself as “dynamic, refreshing and full of life”. The description continues, noting it has “low alcohol content” and is “based on orange and infusions of herbs and spices”.

YouTuber The Brownie Life said: “When you’re in the summertime and you’re in the garden, you want a nice drink, this is definitely the Italian drink to drink. It’s actually a form of Aperol Spritz.

“It’s actually called ArtSpritz Ready. It is the nearest thing I have had to an Aperol Spritz. It basically means you don’t have to buy all of the separate drinks, because obviously it does have different drinks in an Aperol Spritz to make it up at home. Instead of doing that, you can buy this bottle already done, [for] £4.49.”, reports the Liverpool Echo.

The content creator, who says she’ll be returning to “rebuy” the drink, explained that it “tastes quite strong” but was taken aback to find it was eight per cent ABV. She continued: “It does really taste quite strong and it absolutely does taste like an Aperol Spritz that I have been used to when I have been in Italy.

“Honestly, I can highly recommend this product. When you want a beautiful summer drink, sit in the garden, why not treat yourself.”

While numerous Brits regard Aperol Spritz as an authentic taste of Italy, two experts have previously suggested we’re consuming it incorrectly. TikTok creators Benedetta and Valeria operate a food and wine experiences business based in Italy.

Trading as Local Aromas, they’re passionate about showing people “how Italians really eat, drink and live so you can experience Italy like a local”. They feel strongly about ensuring people consume the sparkling wine-based cocktail properly.

In a video, Benedetta said: “No Spritz when you’re sitting down to have a main meal please.”

Valeria explained that while she appreciates spritzes are wonderful, they’ve observed diners ordering one alongside their “carbonara, pizza and Saltimbocca”. Yet according to Benedetta, this simply “doesn’t make sense”.

“The spritz is an aperitivo drink and traditionally in Italy when we drink an aperitivo drink, the drink is bitter. It’s bitter. It doesn’t pair with the food.

“So have the spritz absolutely, every single day or multiple times a day as an aperitivo, so half an hour, an hour, an hour and a half before you have lunch or before you have dinner. Absolutely perfect.”

Benedetta explained that the bitterness of a spritz is designed to encourage you to eat. She added: “The bitterness serves the purpose of opening your stomach to then go have dinner, so it’s okay to have a spritz with something to nibble on before dinner, but when you sit at the table….”
