Popular treats like Squashies and Skittles have been given the ‘explode’ treatment – with people desperate to find and try them
Home Bargains shoppers have another chance to grab a pack of viral sweets for an incredible price. Costing just £2 per bag, the retailer has given more classic treats the freeze-dried treatment.
A post in the Extreme Bargains and Couponing UK Facebook group showed the current batch of crunchy sweets available at Home Bargains. The variety of flavours includes Drumstick Squashies and Skittles, both in plain and sour options, as well as blue raspberry slices and ‘fruity crunch’.
Recently, the discount store brought out another range of £1.49 freeze-dried sweets that became popular with shoppers wanting to pick up some treats at a fraction of their usual price. Businesses that sell freeze-dried sweets often need to raise the price tag due to the expensive process that goes into creating them.
According to Candy Mail UK, the process involves removing all the water from a sweet. This is said to leave behind a “more intense and sweeter flavour” due to the now “exceptionally concentrated” sugar and flavours. The process also makes the sweets look like that have ‘exploded’ and increased in size.
Made popular millions of videos on TikTok and Instagram, the viral appeal of the treats has had people scrambling to secure some as potential Christmas gifts. But, they’ll only be available while stocks last at Home Bargains stores.
People have been sharing clips on social media as they hunt for the viral treats. One shopper documented the process of trying several shops until managing to get her hands on a selection and later giving the range a ’10/10′ rating.
People were quick to react to the new addition to the sweet aisle. One said: “They’re super moreish, really nice!” Another added: “OMG, new freeze dried sweets! Running to Home Bargains!” A third said: “I’ve seen them everywhere. I really wanna try them!”
Plenty were tagging friends and family in the comments, with one suggesting: “Ideal to put away for Christmas?” The treats are being supplied by Exploded Sweets – which has a website selling lots of freeze dried sweets if you’re not able to track them down in Home Bargains.
The treats are not available to order online, meaning your only option is to scour each store you can. It’s possible to find your nearest few Home Bargains stores by using the locator tool on its website here.
