The hmv store will open in Chelmsford on Friday, June 26, after closing down elsewhere in the city two years ago, with the first 25 customers geeting free goodie bags
Popular UK entertainment retailer HMV is making its way back to a UK city with a brand new store opening this week.
The company will open a new shop in Meadows Shopping Centre this week.
The opening of the brand-new shop in Chelmsford marks an exciting move back to the area for HMV after plunging into administration in 2018.
The brand previously had a store in the High Chelmer Shopping Centre, but it closed in 2024 after more than two decades.
The store had opened a wealth of big names in music, including Eurovision performer Sam Ryder.
The new venue will open to customers on Friday, June 26.
The 3,930 square foot unit will be home to over 20,000 different products and enhance the way fans discover music, film, and TV, offering customers an unrivalled range to explore that includes pop culture merchandise, music, technology, and literature.
Shoppers will be able to browse over 3,000 different vinyl albums, as well as 5,500 films and TV shows on 4K Ultra HD, Blu Ray and DVD.
There will also be an extensive range of collectable merchandise on offer across franchises including Star Wars, KPop Demon Hunters, and Funko POP.
At the grand opening, the first 25 customers to make a purchase will receive an exclusive goodie bag packed with must have pop culture merchandise.

The stores opening hours are:
- Monday to Friday – 9am – 5:30pm
- Saturday – 9am – 6pm
- Sunday – 10:30am – 4:30pm
Shopper will also be able to use the ‘hmv delivers’ service when visitng the store, ordering any items to their door that are not in stock in store.
