Hereford Leisure Centre has been evacuated after a “serious threat” was made to the complex this evening – prompting officers to place an emergency cordon around the site.
West Mercia Police said an anonymous call was received at around 7pm making a serious threat to Hereford Leisure Centre. It stated the evacuated was as a precaution.
“As a precaution the leisure centre evacuated and contacted police, and a 200 metre cordon has been put in place as a thorough search of the area is carried out by specially trained officers,” the spokesperson said.
“We understand this may be alarming to the local community, and we would urge the public to stay calm and follow the advice of officers, who are there to ensure your safety and the safety of those around you.
“At this stage officers are assessing the threat and therefore we are unable to provide any further information at this time, but will update you as soon as possible.”
