Amber O’Brien, 33, was tragically found dead at Somerton Court, in Blackley, Greater Manchester, and an investigation has led to 31-year-old Stephan Garner being charged with murder
A family have told how a woman allegedly murdered at a tower block “brought joy, laughter, and comfort,” in a heartbreaking tribute.
Amber O’Brien, 33, was discovered dead at the flats in Blackley in north Manchester on Sunday, April 18. Greater Manchester Police said it was called to Broadmoss Drive, Blackley, where Ms O’Brien, 33, had died and it launched a murder investigation.
Stephan Garner, 31, has since been charged with her murder. Today, in a statement issued through GMP, Amber’s family paid tribute describing her as a “beautiful soul”.
They said: “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Amber. Her passing has left us devastated, and she will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Amber was known for her warm smile and her natural ability to lift others up. She had a truly kind heart and made everyone around her feel valued and appreciated.
“She was a devoted daughter and sister, and a beautiful soul whose bright spirit brought joy, laughter, and comfort wherever she went. Our hearts are broken. Amber’s memory will live on with us forever.”
Other tributes have flooded in for the popular painter and decorator, who was a former North Manchester High School for Girls pupil, following her death.
Thousands of pounds have also been donated in a fundraiser by close friend Chelby McKay. “She had a laugh that was infectious. Any room she walked into, she would light it up, Chelby told the Manchester Evening News.
“If you were having a really bad day, you would see Amber and it would turn around. She would do anything for anybody, she would always take the time to think of other people and she would put anyone else before herself.”
People have also left their messages online with one person saying: “A beautiful woman gone far too soon. A smile that could light up any room, a laugh so loud it made you laugh. A gorgeous girl, a beautiful soul. You will be surely missed.”
And another tribute read: “What a beautiful girl inside and out, u was always the best person towards anyone n everyone no matter what.”
Garner appeared at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square via video link from custody on Friday where he spoke only to confirm his identity and no pleas have been entered. He will next appear at the same court on June 5 for a pretrial and preparation hearing. He was remanded into custody until the next date and a preliminary trial date has been set for October 12 this year.
