Harry Kane’s £57million release clause at Bayern Munich will become active in the next summer transfer window and Barcelona have shortlisted him as an option to replace Robert Lewandowski

17:24, 02 Nov 2025Updated 17:35, 02 Nov 2025

Harry Kane is open to joining Barcelona and has set a timeline to decide his future. Kane, 32, is on course for his best-ever goalscoring season, netting an obscene 22 times in his first 15 games for Bayern Munich.

The England captain has helped Bayern make a record-breaking start to the campaign but his long-term future in Germany is uncertain. Kane has a contract with the Bundesliga champions until 2027.

However, the deal contains a complex release clause worth €65m (£57million) which will become active next summer. Premier League teams have been alerted to his situation, as have Barca.

With Robert Lewandowski’s contract set to expire next June, the La Liga giants are looking for their next No.9. Their top target is Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez but Kane has emerged as a serious option.

Catalan outlet Sport report that the striker is considering a move to Barcelona, but he’ll only make a decision on his future towards the end of this season. Barca would be able to match Kane’s current salary but other clubs are set to float more lucrative offers.

It’s also claimed that Tottenham – who have first refusal on the 32-year-old’s release clause – are desperate to bring him back after selling him to Bayern in 2023. But just last month, Kane effectively ruled out a return to the Premier League next summer; insisting that he’s more than happy in Munich and is even considering extending his stay.

“In terms of staying there longer, I could definitely see that,” the former Spurs star confirmed. “I have not had those conversations with Bayern yet but if they were to arise I would be willing to talk and have an honest conversation.

“Obviously, it depends on how the next year or so goes and what we achieve together. Right now, I would say we are in a fantastic moment and I am not thinking about anything else.

Should Harry Kane sign for Barcelona? Have your say in the comments section.

“In terms of the Premier League, I don’t know. If you had asked me when I first left to go to Bayern, I would have said for sure I would come back.

“Now I have been there a couple of years, I would probably say that has gone down a little bit, not so much, but I wouldn’t say I would never go back.

“What I have learnt in my career is that different opportunities and different timings happen and things fall in place. Going back to my first point with Bayern right now, I am fully all in with Bayern.”
