Kent Police are appealing for anyone with information regarding a sexual assault and rape at a cemetery in Edenbridge, Kent, to come forward as they search for a man with a fur-lined jacket
A manhunt is underway for a predator who sexually assaulted and raped a woman while she visited a loved one’s grave at night.
The victim was paying her respects at a cemetery in Church Street, Edenbridge, Kent, at around 9pm last Saturday when she was set upon by an unknown man, the authorities have revealed. Now, a search for the predator, who was believed to have been wearing a coat that could have had a fur-lined hood, is underway and the police are asking for anyone who may have seen something to come forward and assist them.
A Kent Police spokesman said: “It is reported a woman visiting a cemetery next to Church Street was physically and sexually assaulted by an unknown man. The incident happened between 9pm and 9.30pm on Saturday November 9. It was reported last Tuesday. The suspect was described as being quite tall and of slim build. He was wearing a coat which may have had a fur hood.”
The statement added: “Officers are continuing to pursue several inquiries to establish the full circumstances, including forensic analysis at the scene, checks for CCTV opportunities and extensive house-to-house inquiries.”
Police have urged anyone with information on the incident to come forward, no matter how small or insignificant they think the detail may be.
