Jamal Coombes, 17, was killed in an incident in Battersea, London, as two boys aged 14 and 15 and a 15-year-old girl have been arrested on suspicion of murder
A 17-year-old boy has been named as the victim of a fatal stabbing in London as three young teens have been arrested as part of a murder investigation.
Jamal Coombes was found by paramedics with serious injuries after police received a call to reports of a stabbing on Glycena Road, Battersea, at around 4.20am on Saturday, June 20.
Despite the efforts of emergency workers, Jamal was pronounced dead at the scene. His next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
A boy and a girl, both aged 15, were arrested on suspicion of murder on Saturday, while a 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of the same offence the following day, on Sunday, June 21.
All three remain in custody, the Met Police said.
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie said: “Our thoughts remain firmly with Jamal’s loved ones following his tragic death.
“I understand the impact this incident has had on the local community. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to speak with one of our officers on patrol in the area this week.”
Det Ch Insp Howie has urged the public to contact the police if they hold any information as it is believed the assault took place following an altercation.
Anyone who was in the Lavender Hill area between 3.30am and 5am, specifically Glycen Road, Acanthus Road and Pountney Road, and has witnessed a group of men running is asked to come forward.
Det Ch Insp Howie said: “Any information, no matter how minor it may seem, could prove crucial. CCTV, doorbell or mobile phone footage may provide vital evidence
“I would also urge members of the public not to assume that information has already been shared, any detail could be of significant importance to the investigation.”
