With Valentine’s Day out of the way, it’s time to turn our attention to the next national holiday on the horizon; Pancake Day. And whilst it might not get quite the same fanfare as holidays like Valentine’s Day and Easter, it’s still the perfect excuse to get together with family and enjoy some food together.
However, mastering the art of making the perfect pancake doesn’t come naturally to some of us. So if you’re sick of wasting batter on underdone or burnt crepes, then this Russell Hobbs Electric Crepe & Pancake Maker is a must-buy ahead of Shrove Tuesday.

Currently on sale at Amazon, the Electric Crepe & Pancake Maker is now £24.99 down from £26.52 and helps make the perfect pancakes and crepes every single time. It has a non-stick 30cm hot plate which keeps it the same temperature all-over to avoid burnt or undercooked areas.
It has an easy-to-use design and an adjustable thermostat so you can cook it exactly how you want it, and it even comes with a batter spreader and spatula to make it easy to cook. You just spread the batter on, let it cook and then flip it over, until it’s all the way done and serve.
If you prefer smaller pancakes, Dunelm’s Cast Iron Blinis Mini Pancake Pan is £22 and has sections for seven mini pancakes or blinis to help you get them perfectly sized and evenly cooked. You could also pick up the Giles & Posner Mini Snack Maker which is now £12 down from £19, and can be used to make pancakes, cookies and even ice cream.
The £19.99 2-in-1 Waffle and Pancake Maker from Lakeland is another great pick, with a small and compact design that makes it great for smaller kitchens. It has the option to swap between a smooth plate for pancakes or a ridged one for waffles, and has a non-stick coating to make it easy to use and clean.
However Amazon shoppers have praised the Russell Hobbs Electric Crepe & Pancake Maker, with one saying: “So easy to do, even if you need to do dairy free and gluten free. No need for any oil to fry them in. Great machine and excellent value for money.”
Another said: “Amazing and brilliant value for money. Pancakes were perfect.”
Shoppers also said that it was great for making things other than pancakes. One said: “Amazing quality, works perfectly every time and the easiest kitchen item to clean by far. Also great for making toasted sandwiches and grilling things if you want. I liked it so much I got two! Top marks for this (and I am not a person who is easily pleased!)”
Whilst another agreed: “Really pleased with this purchase. The hot plate stands off from the base so it’s easy to clean and the base doesn’t get hot. That said, the base is plastic so doesn’t conduct heat. I use it for crepe, pancakes and omelettes and they come out perfect every time. The non stick plate is very easy to clean and the temperature adjustment is a nice feature to not overdo the omelettes. I’ve also used it for fried bread but don’t tell the cardiologist.”
Some did find issue with the Electric Crepe & Pancake Maker, saying: “Doesn’t heat up to a high temperature so crepes came out chewy and took ages to cook. Needs to heat up higher so that they crisp a bit. Not happy with it for crepes pancakes but will use it for eggs bacon etc see if that’s any good. Maybe that’s why it was reduced price.”
And another complained: “Was hoping for it to make the cooking quicker but it takes the same time as it would on a stove.”
