A woman has shared her easy way to make sure her home is insect-free as the weather gets warmer with a simple buy from B&M that costs just £3 and tells everyone to ‘be quick’
As the warmer weather arrives, it’s inevitable that you will start to open your windows and doors to let fresh air in, but it also means it’s the perfect way for bugs and insects to make their way indoors. While no one wants to come across a huge spider in their home, or listen to a buzzing fly as you’re laying in bed, there is a nifty way to make sure they stay away this summer.
Shoppers have been rushing to B&M for a handy buy that makes life much easier when it comes to keeping the creepy crawlies away and it will cost you just £3. Calling it “genius”, homeowners are raving about the find, with a £3 version and a £5 version. One shopper took to social media to share the discovery.
Posting online, TikTok user Zari, who goes by the username @zayreeshh, gave her followers a peek at her B&M haul and shared that she’d picked up the Magnetic Insect Door Screen for £5 and an Easy Fit Insect Window Screen for just £3.

The mum, who said her kids “cry” whenever they see any type of bug, captioned the video: “Save yourself from all these creepy bugs and get these. So if you don’t already know about these, you need it, it’s a must to keep all the insects, the bugs and spiders out of your house.” She also detailed how there are different colours including grey and white, and they perfectly slot into windows to stop bugs entering.

There are also natural remedies you can use if you aren’t able to get to a B&M. Glen Peskett, DIY expert at Saxton Blade shared: “When it comes to keeping flies out of the home, many people turn to chemical solutions, but a simple, natural remedy can work wonders.”
He points out a strange but powerful method and said: “Cucumber slices are a surprisingly effective way to repel flies. Flies hate the scent of cucumbers, particularly more bitter ones, so it’s a natural deterrent for flies.”
By scattering slices of cucumber around your house, you’re setting up a natural deterrent that flies simply can’t bear. For optimal results, position the slices near windowsills, doorways, or any other fly hotspots like bins. Remember to refresh the slices every few days to keep up their potency.
