Question-and-Answer Session

Yoshida

This is Yoshida from CLSA Securities. Thank you.

As usual, could you please comment on shipments, including the Q2 results and the Q3 outlook? I would also appreciate your comments on the mix of major applications.

Koba

I would like to answer your question. First, regarding Q2 shipments, against the forecast of JPY141 billion, actual shipments came in at JPY148.6 billion, finishing approximately JPY7.5 billion above forecast. There was almost no impact from foreign exchange rates.

Looking at changes by segment, the largest increase was in consumables. The second largest was the others category. Both of these came in above forecast.

Equipment was slightly below target, but generally proceeded as planned. There was no major cause for the slight shortfall; I believe it was simply a matter of timing, mainly related to OSATs.

Next, I would like to add some details regarding equipment applications.

Overall, equipment shipments hit a new quarterly record high.

By application, we saw increases in ICs, as well as photonics-electronics convergence—as mentioned in the previous quarter—and CPUs.

Within ICs, there was growth related to generative AI, particularly HBM.

Although there was a slight decline in shipments to OSAT customers, we believe this was mainly due to a temporary pullback in shipments to China, which had seen exceptionally strong growth in Q1.

Regarding CPO and photonics-electronics convergence, one area showing growth is optical semiconductors. This experienced a significant increase.
