A “gorgeous and beautiful” couple killed in a collision were weeks away from celebrating their wedding anniversary, a funeral mass heard.
Anthony “Anto” Hogg, 40, and wife Georgina Hogg-Moore, 39, were tragically killed on December 26 on Blanchardstown Road North, west Dublin, while walking with their daughter near Blanchardstown Shopping Centre. Georgina was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident while Anthony died as a result of his injuries in hospital .
Hundreds attended the funeral of the pair. At the funeral mass at the Church of St Philip the Apostle in Mountview, mourners were told they adored their two children, Ryan and Becky-Joy.
The priest praised the husband and wife and described their relationship as “a testament to commitment and partnership”. He added: “They were very house proud and they loved partying.
“They loved holidays and were due to go back to Spain in two weeks’ time where they got married to celebrate their marriage anniversary.”
Georgina’s uncle Michael described the pair as “two gorgeous, beautiful people who were taken from us so horribly”. He said his niece was described by many friends and family as “loving, caring, loyal and honest to a fault”.
He added: “That was Georgina, and she was obviously supremely loved because of who she was. Today, we’re all hurting of course, but wow as I look down here, wouldn’t anybody want to have this amount of people who loved them?”
Mr Hogg’s older sister Emma described him as “a joy to behold, loving, selfless, hard-working, respectful, yet a joker”. She added to the congregation: “Both Anto and Georgina were the life and soul of our family. We’re going to really, really miss you.”
Georgina Hogg-Moore’s sister, Katie Moore, earlier paid tribute to her on social media and hundreds of other people responded with their own messages of condolence, the Daily Record reported. Katie wrote: “Thanks for all the texts and calls. As you can imagine as a family we are absolutely broken-hearted, but if anyone knows anything please come forward I beg.”
