Coca-Cola fans are rejoicing after discovering one of the brand’s most beloved flavours has made a come back.
Coca-Cola Lime, which combines the classic Coke flavour with lime juice, was first released in the UK in March 2005, along with Coca-Cola Lemon, before both were discontinued in February 2007.
The zero-sugar version continued until 2018 when the drinks giant axed it. Ever since, lovers of the flavour have urged Coca-Cola to bring it back. But in great news for fans, Coca-Cola Lime has now been brought back by supplier Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) to Tesco and Farmfood stores in the UK.
According to a report from the Grocer, fans can now get the drink in 330ml, 500ml, 1.75 litres, and 8x330ml formats. Coke’s Zero Sugar Lime will also be returning in 500ml, two litres, and 8x330ml formats. The flavour will only be available in Tesco and Farmfood supermarket stores until March before being made available to all major retailers afterwards.
The new Lime flavour is amongst the drink giant’s flavour cola portfolio, which includes Coca-Cola Lemon, Coca-Cola Cherry and Coca-Cola Vanilla, which was relaunched last year with new packaging.
Coca-Cola senior brand manager Charlotte Walsham said: “Following the hugely popular relaunch of new flavours last year, we’re excited to continue to expand our flavours portfolio with the launch of Coca-Cola Lime.” Fans of Coca-Cola will be able to enjoy their favourite original taste, now with a refreshing tangy citrus twist.
News of the drink’s return was shared on the NewFoodUK Facebook Page, and shoppers were very happy to see it. One Facebook user said: “I need this.” Another added: “I need to try this and find some.” A third commented: “Thank you coke Santa.” While a fourth said Lime Coke was “well better than normal Coca-Cola”.
