Princess Kate is known for her love of a crisp blue shirt, and This Morning’s Cat Deeley is following suit in a £36 M&S version
If we ever needed proof that Cat Deeley takes style notes from Princess Kate, we’ve just found it. Taking to ITV this week to present This Morning, the 49-year-old looked like the picture of casual elegance in a tailored blue shirt that could have come straight from Kate’s everyday wardrobe.
We’ve done some digging and found the exact shirt is Marks & Spencer’s Pure Cotton Contrast Detail Oversized Shirt, a new-in design that’s just hit shelves for spring. Complete with statement white cuffs and a collar, as well as a slightly oversized fit and breezy, pure cotton fabric, it’s a bargain at £36.
Currently available in sizes 8 through to 24, it’s already racking up great reviews from customers who have been quick to get their hands on it – potentially after seeing Cat wearing it on This Morning.
One pens: “Great style great material, very comfy but if you are curvy I would go a size down because the oversized nature isn’t that complimentary. I went a size down and fits much better. Love this shirt!”
I tested Kate Middleton’s exact £95 blue shirt against four high street buys with one clear winner
Another adds: “This shirt is exactly what I wanted. I love the long cuffs. Shame it only came in one colour choice,” with a third writing: “Love this shirt. Very stylish, looks great with jeans and trousers.”
Cat paired her Pure Cotton Contrast Detail Oversized Shirt with a pair of 70s-inspired dark denim jeans with front pocket detailing, tucking it in to give some more definition to her waist. This high-waist trouser-and-tucked-in-shirt look is something we see a lot from the Princess of Wales, who has an expansive blue shirt wardrobe of her own.
For a recent visit to Castle Hill Academy, Kate wore a With Nothing Underneath’s The Boyfriend 100% Fine Poplin Shirt in the Sky Blue Shade. Considering many of Kate’s clothes are from pricey designer labels, the £95 price tag of this makes it one of the more affordable pieces in her wardrobe.
Despite costing under £100, it’s anything but basic. The shirt features tailoring, a slightly oversized fit, double buttons and a 100% organic cotton fabric, making it a buy you’ll re-wear time and time again – and one that won’t lose shape after a few washes. Though you may not have heard of this British brand before, it’s been around since 2017 and is stocked in Liberty London and its online site.
